ICA SF’s three month program Meantime takes place mid-construction in advance of our Fall 2022 opening within the 901 Minnesota building.
Pyrite Radio – Dispatch, activates a short-range radio transmission with audio performances over a series of sculptural Pyrite Radios. All that glitters isn’t gold. Pyrite alludes and distorts. Pyrite Radio – Dispatch, taps the use value of pyrite, focusing its reflectivity as a mirror to capture audio from AM transmissions. Public programming includes live performances in collaboration with artists, musicians, radio programs and local communities.
Peter Simensky is an interdisciplinary artist whose work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; Museum 52, New York; Museum 500meter, Sapporo; The Swiss Institute, New York; and Project Row Houses, Houston. His works investigate sites of speculation and investment with attention to materials implicated in extractive industries and cultural production. Simensky chairs the Sculpture and Individualized programs at California College of the Arts.
